Description

The Scullion Strategy Group, LLC (SSG), is a consulting firm that helps companies commercialize their animal health products and services around the globe. SSG is a team of consultants comprised of subject matter experts in the areas of biopharmaceutical research, biostatistics, business development, clinical development, commercial partnering, new product valuations, portfolio strategy, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, sales and marketing, third-party manufacturing, and global supply chain. This independent contractor position provides transactional expertise and support for SSG clients by evaluating, negotiating, and executing third-party business arrangements consistent with operational and strategic objectives for each client. This will involve actively screening client assets in the animal health industry and related sectors in various categories, including newly emerging diseases, biopharmaceuticals, food safety, vaccine delivery, and others, to provide guidance to the SSG team as to the viability of commercial partnering of the asset and what steps and data are required for a client to obtain a commercial partner to launch into the marketplace. This role will lead clients through business development transactions executed include acquisitions, licenses, distribution arrangements, joint ventures, and other business collaborations.


This role should be a subject matter expert in business development. The role should also establish, facilitate, and maintain networks with potential partners; actively seek contacts in the related industry sectors and collaborate with the SSG team to assess and recommend the preferred partners for those SSG clients that seek a commercial partner to launch their product(s).


This role is on a project-by-project basis.


Scope of Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage opportunities to evaluate, potentially out-license, divest, or develop supply agreements on behalf of clients and based on the direction and objectives of the client.

  • Evaluation of third-party technology opportunities on behalf of investors or of clients in preparation for commercial partnering in collaboration with other SSG subject matter experts in Research & Development, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Operations.

  • Formalize agreements on advice from a client’s Legal Counsel.

  • Conduct post-transactional oversight of ongoing contractual obligations and management of partner relations as required by clients.

The position will report to the President and CEO of SSG.


Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

Minimum Experience and Skills:

  • Must have business development and negotiating skills and experience

  • Must have pharmaceutical industry experience; biologic industry experience a plus

  • At least 10 years as a Business Development Professional or equivalent in the Animal Health industry

  • At least 5 years’ experience in leading contractual negotiations

  • Ability to make financial evaluations to compare commercial partner offers and make recommendations to the client

  • Strong relationship-building skills

  • Superior organizational and time management skills

  • Management of international teams and tasks

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to support business development projects in agriculture or human health if required

  • Ability to support clients during non-traditional working hours for global clients in different time zones

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Advanced scientific degree in life sciences background/experience preferred

  • At least 10 years as a Business Development Professional or equivalent in the Animal

  • Experience with animal health distribution networks and corporate accounts preferred

  • Mergers & Acquisition experience a plus

  • Human health experience a plus
